Our ‘mid term’ newsletter has been published! Here is a brief run down of events from the college calendar in October.
3rd: The Mass of the Holy Spirit was celebrated at the Jesuit church of St Ignatius to mark the beginning of the academic year at the Gregorian University. The rector and seminarians, who attend the Gregorian, were present.
5th: Fr. Agnelo Pinheiro, a postgraduate priest from the Archdiocese of Goa, India, who has been a resident at the Scots College for some years, successfully defended his doctoral thesis at the Gregorian University. The whole community was able to attend to support him. Congratulations!
16th: Schola Benedicti, a choir from Scotland, led the Pontifical Scots College community and friends in prayer at Solemn Vespers.
21st: The community of the Pontifical Scots College this morning celebrated a Requiem Mass for the repose of the soul of Bishop Emeritus John Mone, of the Diocese of Paisley, preceded by a common celebration of the Office for the Dead.
The seminarians, sisters, deacons and priests gathered in the College chapel, uniting themselves in prayer with the people of Scotland.
22nd: The seminarians from first and second year served at a Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit at the Angelicum University to begin the new academic year.
30th: A strong earthquake that took place near Norcia was felt in Rome. The College community felt the tremors but, thank God, no damage was done to the College building.
