This year the Scots College have joined forces with the English and Beda colleges in Rome to support Mary’s Meals.
The Scots College has been busy this weekend continuing its efforts to support the work of Mary’s Meals in Africa. Following the visit to the college of Magnus MacFarlane-Barrow last year, the students pledged to raise the money required to run a school that forms part of the work of Mary’s Meals in Africa for 12 months.
Since last April, when the students hosted a Quiz Night with friends from across the city, the college has also seen some smaller events which this weekend included a cross between a Scottish and an Irish breakfast on Saturday morning. That was followed by the leftovers being used up on Sunday morning for a bacon breakfast. In all, the weekend raised €344.86.
A special thanks to Sisters Gerard, Stella, Augustina and Antoniette who prepared and cooked the breakfast.
Elsewhere, the English College donated all the proceeds they raised at their Advent show in December to Mary’s Meals.
They will also host a ‘Soup do’ before Easter. Meanwhile, the students of the Beda College bought a vast array of Mary’s Meals Christmas cards, the proceeds of which will help feed a child for a year.
The Scots College would also like to thank Marie Toner, the grandmother of Glasgow seminarian, Edward, who organised a fish supper night at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Dennistoun recently. Marie and the parishoners raised £1080 towards the Scots College fundraising efforts. Thank you!
Fundraising efforts will continue for the Scots College community after Easter when the Quiz Night is held at the college on the 5th May.
