The new Spiritual Director at the Scots College has been announced following the recent meeting of the Bishops Conference of Scotland.
Monsignor Thomas Canon Millar, the current Administrator of Our Lady of Good Aid in Motherwell and Vicar General of the diocese, has been announced as the new Spiritual Director of the Scots College. He will take up his post in the new academic year when it starts in September 2017.
Rector of the college, Fr. Dan Fitzpatrick spoke on behalf of the community saying they were ‘…delighted…” that Monsignor Millar would be “…joining us here in the Scots College as Spiritual Director.” Fr. Fitzpatrick added that “We look forward to welcoming him when he takes up his appointment. While it will be a big change from his work in Motherwell Cathedral, he brings with him a wealth of priestly and pastoral experience, which I am sure he will put to great use in his new role in the college.”
Whilst the current Director, Fr. Mark Cassidy (pictured, left) from the Diocese of Dunkeld will return to Scotland after 6 years in the post, Fr. Fitzpatrick had words of thanks saying “I would like to thank Fr. Cassidy for his enormous contribution as Spiritual Director. He has supported and encouraged the seminarians in so many ways over his time here.”
Monsignor Millar was educated at St. Vincent’s, Langbank, St Peter’s, Cardross and St. Andrew’s, Drygrange. He will serve at the Cathedral in Motherwell until January 2017.
