As part of our ‘mid term’ newsletter, here is a brief run down of events from the college calendar in September.
19th-22nd: The seminarians returned to Rome and began pastoral classes. This year’s sessions were on palliative care, military chaplaincy and the work of the Hosanna House and Children’s Pilgrimage Trust in Lourdes.
23rd: The College celebrated its annual Mass in the Borghese Family Crypt, located in the Basilica of St. Mary Major, where the College founder, Pope Clement VIII, and, the first cardinal protector, Camillo Borghese (later known as Pope Paul V), are buried.
26th-29th: The beginning of year pilgrimage-retreat took place in Assisi and was led by Fr. Mark Butlin, a monk from the Benedictine community at Ampleforth. The conferences were about living in a personal relationship with the Lord and Christian community living. During those days the community went on pilgrimage to the hermitage, where St Francis preached to the birds, and celebrated Mass in the chapel there.
