The Church in Scotland
Scotland has a long history of Christianity and it enjoys the patronage of Saint Andrew the Apostle and Saint Margaret, Queen of Scotland. However, there are many other saints who have influenced the country. Some of the most notable include Ninian, Kentigern, Columba, Patrick and John Ogilvie.
At the last census in 2011, the Catholic population was registered as 15.9% of the population or roughly 841,000.
Today there are eight dioceses in Scotland and they are overseen by the Bishops’ Conference of Scotland
